Acne
Skin condition characterized by excessive sebum production,
deregulation of the maturation of keratinocytes, and infection.
Most commonly occurs during adolescence, but is also known
to appear during adulthood.
Actinic
keratoses
See keratoses.
Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA)
A group of acids that includes glycolic,
citric, lactic, malic and tartaric acids. Naturally present
in fruits or milk. Known for their exfoliating properties.
Angioma
Vascular malformation that consists
of small blood vessels pooled together. Can be located anywhere
on the body. There are many different types of angiomas, including
spider angiomas, port wine stains, and cherry angiomas (Morgan's
spot).
Antioxidants
Substances that protect against cell
damage by neutralizing oxygen free radicals. These substances
are very effective in the prevention and treatment of skin
aging. Examples include vitamins C and E, and natural extracts
of plants such as rosemary, green tea, and tomato.
Anthocyanin
Natural plant flavonoids with therapeutic
and antioxidant properties.

Holistic Eastern Indian practice combining
nutrition, meditation, and herbal medicine to restore harmony
